The Dropout (Andrew Ficker) is not only following the footsteps of other Detroitbased break-out artists such as Griz, who has been featured in publications such as SPIN; but he is breaking away in a new direction.
Producing an eclectic blend of music reminiscent of New York’s No Wave scene Andrew Ficker as The Dropout uses his Saxophone to paint a new page for the young Detroiter and now the world. While collaborating with artists at the Detroit collective "Assemble Sound", as well as his ex band mate "Nydge”, The Dropout refuses to stick to genre norms, leaving the listener wondering what will come next and the press intrigued.
With a frenetic energy and fanatical approach, The Dropout (Andrew Ficker) plays a variety of instruments, produces his own records, creates his own seizure- inducing light shows and operates as an ardent promoter.
Previously known as the lesser educated half of Nigel & The Dropout (a band made famous by the front pages of platforms like "The Pirate Bay" and "Reddit"), The Dropout is rolling out a solo project in with a series of bi-weekly singles, leading up to an EP distributed in early 2018 through The Orchard.
Collaborations featured on Showtime's hit series "Shameless".
Collaborations also featured on Reddit's "Listen to This" subreddit front page for an entire year.
Heavy radio rotation and live performances on stations such as Detroit's WDET 101.9
